By its fifth year in 1987, Adult Video News (AVN) was at the forefront of a pornographic video era in full swing. As the magazine shares in the editorial of its January 1987 issue:
“Here it is, 1987, and the adult industry is on the verge of what could be the best year ever for video. A growing couples market, an increasing female audience and an estimated record-breaking $450 million in retail sales ushered out 1986, paving the way for even bigger profits this year.
Another good sign for 1987 is the crumbling federal empire. First, the president and some of his men were fingered for a hooky arms deal with Iran… And then in the December issue of Psychology Today magazine, two of the Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography‘s star witnesses…blasted the lopsided panel and it’s findings saying ‘There are factual problems with the report, representing serious errors…
This is the month for resolutions, and maybe the adult industry should make a few of its own. On an individual level, directors, producers, actors and actresses, manufacturers, distributors and retailers should take a good, hard look at themselves, and seriously vow to constantly increase the quality of their services and/or products. As a whole, the industry should strive for unity and strength in the face of this censorious onslaught. Sure there’s got to be competition among the companies, that’s what guarantees better films and features. But when one company, one director, one retailer or one consumer comes under attack for participating in or enjoying adult videos, the industry as a whole must unify and present a strong front against anyone who would infringe on our rights to view and read erotica.”
This year, AVN featured interviews with 1987 favorites such as Porsche Lynn, Annette Haven, Ginger Lynn, Angel Kelly, Bunny Bleu, and much more…

The 80’s was my favorite era of porn. Loved the ladies from the 80’s!

Speaking of the 80’s ladies, one of my favorites was Frankie Leigh. So sad that I just found out she died in November 2021 and she was only 53 years old
I met Bill Margold at a porn convention in 1997 in Los Angeles. I mentioned I liked a scene he did with Frankie Leigh called Inner Blues. Without hesitation, Margold smiled and said “She was a great kid”
I liked Frankie very much too, I just found she passed away in 2021, Do you know what was the cause of her death?
