By its fourth year in 1986, Adult Video News (AVN) had evolved from an 8-page newsletter with limited production values to a glossy magazine whose pages numbered over 80 an issue. Publishers Paul Fishbein and Barry Rosenblatt – two of the company’s three founders – were still at the helm. And the magazine’s popularity was continuing to grow, thanks in part to the fact that VCR prices were starting to fall. In October of that year, AVN’s managing editor John Paone told the Daily News: “The industry expects to ship 7.5 million XXX-rated cassettes in 1986, worth about $450 million at retail – well up from $210 million in 1983.”
AVN continued to fuel the industry’s popularity by focusing on interviews with people such as Tish Ambrose, Kristara Barrington, Vanessa Del Rio, Tracey Adams, Careena Collins, and much more…
Copies of the magazine’s early editions have been near impossible to find since their first publication, and The Rialto Report is happy to re-publish them and make them available again.

My favorite x-rated film star of all time actor Peter North alongside with John Holmes from the 70s 80s and early 90s during the San Fernando Valley era keep up the good work thanks God bless you all
Thanks as always Jeff!
Not the type of person who asks for ice cream after you gave me a delicious slice of cake, but is there a chance of issuing the 1985 mags??? I absolutely loved these issues. You guys are the best.
Wow does Kari Foxx look sexy in her yellow outfit! I always thought she could have been a huge star in 1986 but her boyfriend Troy Tannier held her back. Kari never got to do an interracial scene with FM Bradley or Ray Victory or a scene even the King himself John Holmes. She did a lot of scenes with Troy and he was a below average performer. Would love to see a where are they now on Kari Foxx like Rialto did with the stunning Tiffany Clark
Beautiful cover of the gorgeous Hyapatia Lee
Just heard the sad news that Victoria Paris passed away today from cancer at the age of 60. I had the pleasure of meeting her at AVN conventions back in the day – what a sweetheart!
Also, AVN ended its print run with the June 2021 issue. It is now strictly a downloadable digital publication.
Great work, are the 1985 issues going to be made available?
Love that you are posting these impossible to find magazines. Looks like the January magazine is the wrong title. Also when you posted the 1984 AVNs the November issue was missing and would be posted shortly. If it’s now available, it would be great to have it to complete the year. Many thanks for these.
‘Love that you are posting these impossible to find magazines’
Back in the day, they were easy to find! Just had to go in the woods, or a construction site.
Thank you so much, much appreciated, please keep ’em coming when you can……
As an avid collector of 80s & 90s boxcover art, I wanna say thank you, and can’t wait for the 1989 edition.
