For our first podcast of 2015 we’re reaching back into last year’s archives to honor a legend of adult cinema who is in need of our help: Kay Parker: Many Lives – Podcast 32.
About a month ago together with Jill Nelson and Mark Murray, we set up The Golden Age Appreciation Fund after learning that Kay is experiencing financial difficulties which have forced her out of her home. The goal of the drive is to raise enough money to cover Kay’s first and last month’s rent plus a security deposit. Many of you have already generously donated and for that we thank you.
The drive for Kay will run until this coming Friday, January 9th at midnight. This is a non-profit initiative so 100% of your donation will go directly to Kay – no donation is too small. And feel free to also leave a message for Kay when you donate – we will ensure it is passed on to her
Thanks so much – and Happy New Year!
This episode running time is 100 minutes.

Kay Parker
Kay Parker is one of the true legends of adult cinema. In a career that started in 1977 and spanned over a decade, she became one of the industry’s most recognizable and best-loved figures. Since her retirement, Kay has dedicated herself to the welfare of others, working as a freelance New Age metaphysical counselor and writing a book about her spiritual experiences.
From her beginnings in war time Birmingham in England, Kay Parker was introduced to the adult film industry in the mid 1970s by playing small non-sexual roles. It was director Anthony Spinelli who talked her into doing her first sex scene in the 1977 film SexWorld, and Kay was soon one of the leading lights of industry. Kay is perhaps best remembered for her role in the original ‘Taboo‘, where she plays the mother role and is partnered with Mike Ranger, who plays her son Paul Scott, in one of the golden age’s most memorable scenes.
Apart from her film roles, Kay also became a prominent spokesperson for the business – appearing on television, college campuses, and in magazines, passionately defending the rights of the filmmakers and the performers. She is remembered with great fondness and respect by all who worked with her, including such luminaries as Seka, Eric Edwards, and Richard Pacheco.
Kay was recently featured in the book ‘Golden Goddesses’ by Jill Nelson (Bear Manor Media), and interviewed for The Rialto Report podcast – where both her appearances received much positive attention proving that she is still remembered and loved by her many fans.
The Golden Age Appreciation Fund would like to highlight Kay’s need, and also make it easy for anyone who wishes to make a donation to her. Together we can help Kay get back into a place of her own. Please donate – every penny donated to Kay will go directly to her.
The Golden Age Appreciation Fund is a non-profit initiative, that was established in 2014 to help raise funds for those formerly associated with the golden age adult film industry. It was set up by Mark Murray, Jill Nelson, and Ashley West.
Thanks for this marvelous fundraiser!
Clearly its not enough being the best resource for golden age information (told in a compelling and engaging way), now you are leading the effort to raise money for the worthiest of people, Kay Parker.
Bravo Rialto people!
I will donate – thanks for raising this to our attention. Kay is a legend and she deserves to live comfortably in her retirement.
The porn industry is loaded with greedy people who just chase the dollar and could care less about the men and woman who perform in the films. The big shots who run the studios see porn stars as disposable people who have no college education and can’t find a better way to make money. Once they leave, no big deal, there are 20 new girls ready to be filmed and used up then out the door.
Can someone please tell me why the porn performers don’t have their own union? This should have taken place in 1986 at the start of the video revolution. Why don’t porn stars receive any royalties from the films they appeared in years ago that now sell on DVD? Kay Parker DVD’s still sell, does she see one dollar for any of them? It was Kay on her back with her legs in the air doing the hard work, yet it is some DVD manufacturer with no ties to Kay’s era at all who cashes a nice check for producing the DVD’s that Kat starred in. I’m sure Seka, Vanessa Del Rio and Ginger Lynn wish they had a small piece of all the DVD’s that still sell with their name on it.
The porn business is a billion dollar industry that makes more money than all the sports leagues put together but when they hang up their garter belt is there any pension in the future for the men and woman who did the sex scenes? of course not! Can a porn star even see a doctor with a health plan provided by the industry they make so much money for? of course not. In a way I guess the big shots who run the porn industry like it just the way it is, porn stars are cheap labor who aren’t smart enough to organize themselves and demand a bigger piece of the pie. I think you will see many more like Kay Parker in the future, no job skills once they leave the porn industry, no money saved, no pension and no one who gives a crap about them. I wonder if the new generation of porn stars will ever be smart enough to get a piece of all the DVD’s they appeared in or instead just settle for the one day check they receive for getting laid that day? it’s kind of sad.
She can stay with me.
Just made a donation, which should have been larger….
Hope this fund will help to assuage the ongoing pain
of many of these performers from GA era. As so many
creative artists have done for so many years, they signed
away their futures at the young age when they believed
they would live forever…..Hindsight being 20/20,there’s
nothing very new or surprising about this phenomenon .
AND it will continue for generations to come.
So true, as long as these porn stars let themselves get walked over like a carpet and only settle for the check they receive for that days scene, things will never get any better for them. The performers deserve a bigger piece of the porno pie but none of them seem smart enough to figure out how to do it?
Hi Kay,
I am sorry you are going through this. I too was made homeless after my mother passed away by sisters who molested me as a child (See YouTube “Sister 22 has sex with Brother 11”) and now I am living in a homeless apartment. I feel lucky but as so ashamed that in my great nation others are homeless. I do not have the funds to donate and am sad about that but it is my goal to do everything in my power in my life to make sure everyone has a home (I began The Jedaian Project who’s goal was to buy empty homes and give them to the needy in exchange for them doing 10 good deeds for others) I wish you the best and I hope I am able to help others more in the future.
Love Michael
Hi again Kay,
I heard all your interview and found you to be nothing like I have thought, a most beautiful soul. I have a saying that clicks with yours, mine is “Love is a superpower” and I try to live that. I think, in my eyes, the thing you had in porn was an innocence edged with class, not hard edged like some of the women. I feel Lilli Marlene had this also although she could be very hardcore (I often wonder what became of her and was very sad to learn Kandi Barbor died homeless in the streets) and I wish I could help you with more than just words. But as I said i am near homeless and helped by a group myself and after my family evicted me from my home of 54 years (I am 54) as a result of the two older sisters molesting me and holding a grudge because I rejected them sexually as an adult, as far as I can tell (Again, YouTube “Sister 22 has Sex With Brother 11” videos) I am in not shape to help at this moment. But I would say make a YouTube video and put it up. many fans would find you there and help. Blessings and I love you and am Michael Xai Capps on Facebook if you ever want to contact me.
Michael
Kay, I know that you worked, at least once, with Dorothy Lemay, I was lucky enough to befriend her when she was working for Alex Derenzy at his Screening Room in San Francisco. Do you have any idea what has happened to her? I lost touch with her when she left for Los Angeles.
Thanks
Chuck
Hi Kay Parker. Just saw this website. How are you?
